    One of the oldest methods of trenchless technology, pipe, jack and bore is a dependable method for casing bores. Atlantic Underground Inc performs auger bores to install lines where open cutting is not feasible. Each bore offers a unique challenge, we utilize the best equipment for each job. With a high degree of accuracy, AUI installs carrier pipe for drainage and all utilities up to 60” in diameter with minimal disruption to traffic patterns or disturbance to the environment.

    Recent pipe, jack and bore projects include:

    Interstate 495 Virginia HOT Lanes Project: This Project will deliver a package of transportation improvements that will be the most significant enhancement to the Beltway in more than 30 years. AUI started on this $1.6 million contract in February 2009 and is 95% complete. We’re currently on schedule and our involvement in the project includes:

    • Bored in a total of 2,200 linear feet of steel casing & RCP for storm sewers
    • 36″ steel encasement pipe with 18″ RCP threaded & blocked inside: 1,304 linear feet
    • 42″ steel encasement pipe with 24″ RCP threaded & blocked inside: 344 linear feet
    • 48″ steel encasement pipe with 30″ RCP threaded & blocked inside: 546 linear feet

    Richmond International Airport: Installed 140 linear feet of 24-inch steel casing under roadway for RJ Smith Companies.

    Fort Lee, VA: Installed 350 linear feet of 24-inch steel casing for Richard Crowder Construction.

    Lowes, Prince George: Installed 80 linear feet of 24-inch steel casing for RJ Smith Companies.

     

    From set up to success

     


    1Setting Line - Setting pit dimensions and proposed bore path.


    2Setting Grade - After pit is excavated to below invert, the Backstop is set square to line and stone or concrete is poured to desired elevation and grade.

    3Setting Track - Tracks are set and ABM is placed in tracks.


    5Success - Bore completed on Line and grade. Proper pit preparation is the cornerstone of a successful bore.
